Authors know very well about the arduous journey that one should go through in order to have a successful launch of his latest book. Aside from the creative aspect, there are many other things that should be settled with the publishing company before the book becomes available at the stores. Even the renowned authors are not exempted to this rollercoaster ride of releasing their much-awaited next novel. Yes, including the legendary George R. R. Martin himself of “A Song of Ice and Fire” fame, is apparently having troubles over the last several years to release the next installment in his highly popular book series.
Per Martin’s latest update in his blog, fans have nothing to worry about as “The Winds of Winter,” the upcoming sixth book in “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, is still being written, contrary to earlier rumors that the book has already been cancelled.
‘Winds Of Winter’ Expected To Arrive Sometime In 2022, If GRRM Manages To Finish The Book This Year
HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” based on GRRM’s work on “A Song of Ice and Fire,” concluded in Spring 2019. The idea before is that Martin would finish writing all of the remaining books in “ASOIAF” before the TV series wraps up. However, certain things happen that even “The Winds of Winter” is still nowhere to be found, roughly 2 years after “Game of Thrones” bid farewell.
As the TV show had no original content from Martin’s books to work on, the showrunners did the writing by themselves, resulting to a dismal series finale that the fans are still so angry about up to this point.
Many online communities expressed their disappointment with how HBO ended an epic series. The final season destroyed so many characters that had great character building from the very beginning, thanks to GRRM’s smart writing. Online fans can be really tough when it comes to their favorite shows and books, and “Game of Thrones” showrunners could only wish that the online fans could behave like those from the F95Zone Gaming Community, which is a really great community to be a part of.
The fans are hoping that GRRM’s “The Winds of Winter” would give a much deserving ending to the beloved characters such as Daenerys Targaryen, Stannis Baratheon, Margaery Tyrell, and Cersei Lannister.
Fortunately, according to GRRM on his website, he has already written hundreds of pages for “The Winds of Winter,” which means that the book is on its way into completion. It is not known if the book is almost complete, as Martin also said that there are about hundreds of pages left to be written.
Nonetheless, he expressed his intention to finish the book altogether this 2021, a year that would mark a decade since the predecessor of “The Winds of Winter” was first released, “A Dance With Dragons.”
